Where to start! We stayed at L'Airial Moustey for just over 4 weeks in August and had the best holiday - Nigel is a fantastic host and although we didnt meet in person, we had plenty of dialogue and he's so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
We took our teenage children, 17 and 19 along with our dogs and had wanted to explore this region of France while enjoying an amazing Gascon property with large garden for the dogs and lovely swimming pool for us and the kids. Nigel's amazing property more than met our expectations in every way, in my experience its not often that you arrive at a property and everything is as you had hoped it would be from the online details - this was! We live rurally in England so the location was like a home from home, plenty of space inside, everything you could wish for in addition to one of the most important things - comfy beds!! Another great feature is the outdoor covered dining area, its massive and we used it every day, especially as temps got up to 42 degrees during the heatwave! The plancha is brilliant and we used to go to Auchan regularly for their fresh chicken skewers.

A special mention here for Nigel's lovely neighbours who greeted us on arrival. Despite our limited French (their English is definitely better!) we had some lovely chats with them and are keeping in touch with them because they are the nicest, most genuine people you could meet - we hope to see them again soon.

Moustey is a lovely little village, we had plenty of visits to bars there and in Pissos which is less than 10 mins drive and also has a great mini supermarket. Because we had a month it gave us time to really explore the area and get further afield, some of our highlights were:

Mimzan - lovely beach, good bars, loads of food options and some nice surfy shops.
Biarritz - lovely City, loads to do, see and eat, great atmosphere and cracking beach.
San Sebastian (Spain) - a few hours from Moustey but well worth visiting. a lovely City and be sure to try the local Basque cheesecake, delicious.
Bordeaux - we enjoyed Bordeaux, uit had always been on our bucket list so very glad we went. Ony went once as we didnt feel it merited a 2nd visit.
Biscarrosse / La Teste de Buch / Arcachon - make sure you visit these lovely towns, beaches are fantastic and they are all popular with a great atmosphere.
Dune du Pilat - an absolute must see! Incredible sand dunes that are thousands of years old and absolutely enormous, sorrounded by forest and with incredible views of the bay of Arcachon, an unforgettable experience.
Dax - we went here for the market mainly which is fantastic. we struggled to locate smaller markets for some reason despite our best efforts, but the Dax market was well worth gonig to and is huge. lots of stalls and some great indoor stalls selling delicious food.

We saw so many other places but i'd be writing this all day. Needless to say we were gutted to leave, the kids had a fantastic time, we took bikes which were used most days and everyone agreed that the holiday had more than met their expectations. One final point worth mentioning - we did some remote working and the signal is excellent.

Par où commencer ! Nous avons séjourné à L'Airial Moustey pendant un peu plus de quatre semaines en août et avons passé des vacances formidables. Nigel est un hôte fantastique. Même si nous ne l'avons pas rencontré en personne, nous avons beaucoup discuté et il est très sympathique et serviable, rien n'était trop compliqué.

Nous avons emmené nos enfants adolescents de 17 et 19 ans avec nos chiens et nous souhaitions explorer cette région de France tout en profitant d'une magnifique propriété gasconne avec un grand jardin pour les chiens et une belle piscine pour nous et les enfants. La superbe propriété de Nigel a dépassé toutes nos attentes. D'après mon expérience, il est rare d'arriver dans une propriété où tout est conforme à nos attentes d'après les informations en ligne – et c'était le cas ! Nous vivons à la campagne en Angleterre, donc l'emplacement était comme un second chez-nous : beaucoup d'espace à l'intérieur, tout ce dont on peut rêver, en plus de l'un des plus importants : des lits confortables ! Un autre atout majeur : la salle à manger extérieure couverte, immense et que nous avons utilisée tous les jours, surtout lorsque les températures ont atteint 5 °C pendant la canicule ! La plancha est excellente et nous allions régulièrement chez Auchan pour leurs brochettes de poulet frais.

Une mention spéciale pour les charmants voisins de Nigel qui nous ont accueillis à notre arrivée. Malgré notre français limité (leur anglais est nettement meilleur !), nous avons eu d'agréables conversations avec eux et nous restons en contact avec eux, car ce sont des personnes très sympathiques et authentiques. Nous espérons les revoir bientôt.

Moustey est un charmant petit village. Nous y avons fréquenté de nombreux bars, ainsi que Pissos, à moins de 10 minutes en voiture, qui possède également une super supérette. Comme nous avions un mois, nous avons pu explorer la région et explorer les environs. Parmi nos coups de cœur :

Mimzan : une belle plage, de bons bars, de nombreux restaurants et de jolies boutiques de surf.
Biarritz : une ville charmante, une multitude de choses à faire, à voir et à manger, une ambiance agréable et une plage magnifique.
Saint-Sébastien (Espagne) : à quelques heures de Moustey, mais une visite s'impose. Une ville charmante et n'oubliez pas de goûter le cheesecake basque local, un délice.
Bordeaux - Nous avons adoré Bordeaux, qui était sur notre liste de choses à faire, donc nous sommes ravis d'y être allés. Nous n'y sommes allés qu'une fois, car nous ne pensions pas que cela méritait une deuxième visite.
Biscarrosse / La Teste-de-Buch / Arcachon - Ne manquez pas ces charmantes villes : les plages sont fantastiques et elles sont toutes très fréquentées et l'ambiance y est géniale.
Dune du Pilat - À voir absolument ! Des dunes de sable incroyables, vieilles de plusieurs milliers d'années et absolument gigantesques, entourées de forêt et offrant une vue imprenable sur le bassin d'Arcachon, une expérience inoubliable.
Dax - Nous y sommes allés principalement pour le marché, qui est fantastique. Malgré tous nos efforts, nous avons eu du mal à trouver des marchés plus petits, mais le marché de Dax valait vraiment le détour et il est immense. Beaucoup d'étals, dont de superbes stands intérieurs, proposent des produits délicieux.

Nous avons visité tellement d'autres endroits, mais j'y passerais la journée. Inutile de dire que nous étions dévastés de partir. Les enfants se sont bien amusés, nous avons pris des vélos, qui ont été utilisés presque tous les jours, et tout le monde a convenu que les vacances avaient plus que répondu à leurs attentes. Un dernier point important à souligner : nous avons télétravaillé et la connexion est excellente.

A Return to Paradise

I am a little late getting around to writing this review of our stay at L’Airial back in June 2025, but better late than never! I finally returned for another amazing stay at L’Airial, having first visited in 2016. I had always dreamed of coming back, and I am so glad I finally did. It was everything I remembered and more, a truly blissful, beautiful place to unwind.

We flew into Bordeaux airport, picked up our rental car, and headed off. As before, Nigel, the owner, had provided us with clear and precise directions, making the journey stress-free. We made a quick stop at the local Carrefour Express to stock up on essentials, French bread, cheeses, and, of course, plenty of wine!

The weather was perfect throughout our stay, so we spent most of our days relaxing by the pool and enjoying BBQs in the evenings. L’Airial has such charm. It is simply beautiful. Honestly, it looks like it belongs in a movie. We only managed to tear ourselves away for one day trip to the incredible Dune du Pilat and Arcachon. Both well worth a visit, especially with a lovely lunch to top it off.

L’Airial is perfect for families of all ages, with so much to see and do in the surrounding area. But really, it’s the peace, beauty, and timeless charm of the house itself that makes it so special. L’Airial I promise I won’t wait another 9 years before returning!

Un retour au paradis

Je suis un peu en retard pour rédiger cette critique de notre séjour à L'Airial en juin 2025, mais mieux vaut tard que jamais ! Je suis enfin revenue pour un autre séjour extraordinaire à L'Airial, après ma première visite en 2016. J'avais toujours rêvé d'y revenir, et je suis tellement contente de l'avoir enfin fait. C'était tout ce dont je me souvenais, et même plus, un endroit vraiment merveilleux et magnifique pour se détendre.

Nous avons pris l'avion jusqu'à l'aéroport de Bordeaux, récupéré notre voiture de location et pris la route. Comme la fois précédente, Nigel, le propriétaire, nous avait fourni des indications claires et précises, ce qui nous a permis de faire le trajet sans stress. Nous avons fait un petit arrêt au Carrefour Express local pour faire le plein de produits de première nécessité, de pain français, de fromages et, bien sûr, de vin !

Le temps était parfait pendant tout notre séjour, nous avons donc passé la plupart de nos journées à nous détendre au bord de la piscine et à profiter de barbecues le soir. L'Airial a tellement de charme. C'est tout simplement magnifique. Honnêtement, on dirait un décor de cinéma. Nous n'avons réussi à nous en éloigner que pour une excursion d'une journée à l'incroyable Dune du Pilat et à Arcachon. Les deux valent vraiment le détour, surtout si vous y ajoutez un délicieux déjeuner.

L'Airial est parfait pour les familles de tous âges, avec tant de choses à voir et à faire dans les environs. Mais en réalité, c'est la paix, la beauté et le charme intemporel de la maison elle-même qui la rendent si spéciale. L'Airial, je promets de ne pas attendre encore 9 ans avant d'y retourner !

Un séjour très agréable au beau milieu du parc Landais

Nous avons profité d'une semaine extraordinaire au milieu des forêts de pins dans la maison de Nigel ! Une maison authentique, très propre avec tout l'équipement nécessaire. La cuisine est ultra fonctionnelle avec un ensemble de robots et une gazinière au top.
L'espace extérieur couvert est propice aux déjeuners et dîners avec une seconde cuisine également très bien équipée.
La piscine est très propre et grande, les transats vous assurent une sieste au soleil des plus agréables.
Les salles de bains sont propres, grandes et agréables, il en est de même pour les chambres

La proximité avec les commerces essentiels est un vrai plus (-10min d'un Carrefour Express et d'une boulangerie) et rendent le séjour simple. La gare d'Ychoux qui dessert Bordeaux directement est a 20min. Des terrains de tennis proches (-10min) et des activités locales nous ont occupé tout la semaine.

Nigel est un hôte compréhensif, attentif et respectueux, nous avons adoré l'Airial de Moustey !

I wish I could have stayed longer!

We had such a wonderful time at L'Arial Moustey! It was so comfortable and cozy during my stay. The bed was excellent and the shower was divine. My dogs and I went on long walks in the surrounding nature and then curled up in front of the fire when the rain started. The internet was fast so I could watch videos but I mostly enjoyed the lovely living room area where we could sit and chat and read. The kitchen was fully equipped which is saying a lot because I love to cook and am very picky. Due to the rain, we didn't get to use the pool but I can imagine on a hot summer's day that this is a little corner of paradise. We will definitely be back!

getaway from it all vacation

We had a fabulous two weeks at L'Airial. The house is spacious and exactly as the photos, though we spent all of the time ourtside with excellent barbeque and kitchen facilities. The grandchildren loved the pool and various games, ranging from Badminton to Bowls, and were well entertained. We had two dogs and with the large garden, surrounding Forest and Rivers, and with the sea and the lakes an hour way, were very happy. Nigel was a perfect host from the moment of my first enquirey to arrival. Answering any queries promptly, such as advising on the nearest dog friendly beaches (thank you for that). The isolation may not be everyones cup of tea but for a getaway from it all vacation you can't do much better.

L’Airial is a lovely house

L’Airial is a lovely house in the forest, down a long dusty track. There are walks to the river through the woods from your doorstep. Moustey is a small village with a good local shop and an excellent restaurant La Haut-Landais (definitely recommend) If you are looking for a peaceful remote holiday then it’s definitely for you. What could be better than good food, drinks, sunshine and relaxing by the pool with family and friends.

Das Haus und die Anlage sind einfach wunderschön.

We were 10 people (4 adults, 6 children) and 3 dogs and everyone was happy. We can only recommend the place. It was pure relaxation and we had a wonderful stay. We would have liked to have stayed much longer. Staying in your house was great. The garden is a great playground for children and dogs. It was great that we could take all 3 dogs and how uncomplicated it was. We would like to come back.

Quiet villa ideal for multi generational groups

We had a fabolous stay at L'Aerial. The house is a gated property is in the middle of the forest, with a huge garden and a pool, all for ourselves. Nice walks in the forest, a lake with a sand beach in a few minutes drive , and a river where you can swimm is within walking distance. Bordeaux and the beaches are not far either. The house itself has a couple of fireplaces, a modern stylish.kitchen and very.confortable beds. It has even an adapted bathroom, very convenient. Close by there are canoes and horses. You definitely need a car to get there and you will get a huge comfy house, a huge garden to indulge with a wine, a pool , and a forest almost for yourself. We will definitely book our extended family holidays there this summer.

Caserío en el magnífico bosque de Gascoña, con cocina moderna con todo lo necesario, amplisimo salón con diferentes ambientes, piscina, enorme jardín, porche con barbacoa, y todo en un entorno donde pasear entre pinares y hasta un río donde nadar. Tranquilidad absoluta para descansar. Muy cerca de la propiedad hay un centro ecuestre donde también puede hacerse kayak. El propietario fue siempre muy atento y nos recomendó excursiones y estupendos restaurantes de la zona. Muy recomendable.

Great house in a quiet setting

We have just returned from spending 4 weeks in this lovely property. The setting in the forest is lovely and quiet and the abundance of birds, especially the owls, was a wonderful backdrop to our evenings. The house is large and the kitchen well equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and modern. Lots of room for everyone to sit inside and outside and the Pool is always in the sun. The outside kitchen is a real plus and we ate outside every night. I would recommend it for any large group or family though a car is essential. Moustey is walkable from the house for bread and there are a couple of bars/ restaurants (not good for vegetarians) The Kayaks were a great day out as was Arcachon and Bordeaux. The neighbours were very friendly and available to help and advise. Great holiday

Une très belle maison au milieu de la forêt, idéale pour ceux qui cherchent le calme et la tranquillité. Les vastes pièces permettent d'accueillir plusieurs familles, la cuisine est très fonctionnelle pour nourrir des tribus et le jardin, un paradis pour les enfants. Nous avons pu manger dehors tout notre séjour puisque même en cas de pluie, il y a une grande table à l'abri à côté de la piscine. Le propriétaire est d'une serviabilite exemplaire aussi bien avant, que pendant et après le séjour.

Easy Refund

Unusually I'm writing a review for somewhere I have not stayed. We were booked to come to Airial this summer, but for COVID-19 related reasons I had to cancel. I wanted to thank Nigel for being adaptable and first allowing me to change dates and then giving me a full refund. Hopefully I'll be able to rebook when my situation improves.

“We have just returned from a family holiday at L’Airial, Moustey. The house was perfect for our family of 11 adults and one child. We spent lazy days chilling by the pool and evenings playing board games. The house is very spacious, comfortable and stylish, with some lovely finishing touches. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and there was plenty of room for us to all eat together as a family, inside and outside. Clownette and BB Clown were very welcoming and explained everything to us on arrival and Nigel has been the perfect host. If you are looking for a relaxing family holiday in a beautiful house and surroundings, look no further than L’Airial.

Superb house for a relaxing family holiday

The location was brilliant being in the forest and part of an authentic village in Landes complete with Boulangerie., exposition of glass blowing, restaurant etc. We loved the super pool which we didn't venture far from for the first 5 days of our holiday. Huge thanks for providing us with the opportunity to have a super family holiday with 8 adults and 4 children aged between 1 year and 6years. We loved the house and the superb pool.

Lovely rural retreat

Myself and my family had a wonderful stay in L'Airial. A truly beautiful location in the French countryside. There are several picturesque towns to visit nearby and a beautiful river to kayak on nearby. Highly recommended.

Good contact before the trip in terms of directing us towards activities, contact details on website, contacts for Clownette, advice about restaurants etc. Local activities plentiful, and really not a long drive at all to get to beaches / lakes etc. Appreciated being provided pool towels - this is very helpful. Very well equipped kitchen - we cooked in the house almost every meal, and there was nothing we felt was missing. Good instructions for getting to the property, including info about the driveway. Nice to have various areas for sitting arranged in the garden - parents liked to follow the shade without having to continually move furniture around. Also really appreciated the nice big outdoor dining table near the pool with good cover on top - we used this for playing board games almost every day, which meant we could all spend time together outside without worrying about people burning in the sun! Great fridge / freezer! Lovely touches like welcome bottle of wine (needed on arrival!) We appreciated there being plenty of wood for the fire - we had a couple of fires on the cooler evenings and it was really lovely. Always plenty of hot water - often not the case in rental properties, so we were impressed by this. Great baby provisions - so helpful for us not to have to take our own cot bed (meant we could bring his car seat instead of hiring one at 7 euros a day!) Good communication about what would be available for him too. Great baby bath - he loved it!

Great place for a big family

Great place for a big family like us. The pool, playing in the garden and the bbq at night. We explored Biarritz, Bordeaux, Cap Ferret, went to the beach at Arcachon and played golf in biscarrosse. We had a great time and thank you Nigel for your wonderful house.

Suitable for my elderly mother

We wanted somewhere quiet and rural but with easy access, suitable for my elderly mother. Although keen to involve herself in all holiday activities, she cannot really manage stairs or walk very far unaided. Nigel was so helpful beforehand over the small but crucial details. He reassured us that we could drive up very close to the front door and even knew the width of the entrance and internal doorways. The only potential hazard we found was down to the age of the house; the front door had a small ridge to step over, tricky for a wheelchair. The downstairs bedroom with its own bathroom and toilet was perfect. Mum could be independent but still join in with the family. We all ate together round the fabulous dining table and she was especially happy cooking in the modern, spacious kitchen. We had a lovely holiday, thank you Nigel!

Thank you Bunty for your comments. In respect of the small ridge/step at the front door, I now provide a custom-built ramp on request so this should further improve accessibility for future guests. Kate recommends L'Airial. Nice big grounds that are extremely separate from the rest of the world. Great sized pool for playing and floating the days away. Fantastisk opphold på din landlige villa

Takk, Mr. bond, for et fantastisk opphold på din landlige villa. Innsjekking var enkel, og dine gode naboer gav oss informasjon om stedet. Det var betryggende å ha dem i nærheten. Vi hadde låst oss ute fra villaen en kveld, og da ringe vi denne hyggelige madam Clownette, som hjalp oss komme inn. (Kanskje et tredje sett med nøkler kunne vært praktisk!) Soverommene er store, og har store senger. Deilig sengetøy og håndklær. Peisene var gode å ha -- fint å fyre opp den ene kvelden det var blitt litt kjølig. Den i spiserommet bragte minnene tilbake til mange hyggelige hytteturer i Norge. Vi kommer absolutt tilbake, og booker igjen for vår neste høstferie. Stephan & Ace

Superbe! Je recommande cette location... Nous avons passé un formidable week end en famille! La maison est très chaleureuse (tout comme l'accueil) et vous y trouverez tout le nécessaire pour passer un agréable séjour. La localisation de la propriété est idéale, vous pourrez apprécier le calme du petit village de Moustey ou prendre la voiture et profiter des alentours (Arcachon, Biscarosse, le lac de Sanguinet...etc). Un seul petit point négatif (petite note pour le propriétaire), la taille du réfrigérateur... un peu petit pour une dizaine de personnes.

Slice of Paradise

We had such a good time in this beautiful House!! At first I was sceptical about paying so much for an Airbnb, especially in a town I’d never heard of, but finally it was totally worth it. Moustey itself is a authentic cute little village with zero tourists and all the essentials (bakery, general store, tabac, restaurants & more) and it is close to Archachon which has a beach and plenty of other things to do (I recommend the “fromagerie de Cathy” for the cheese lovers). There is heaps of space in the peaceful garden for kids and pets to run around. the house is super well equipped.. Especially the kitchen. Nigel has about every food preparation robot you could imagine. One tip for those looking to rent : a car in essential, unless you plan on staying in there the whole time (which is easily done as well ). Will definitely come back to this slice of paradise one day. Loved it.

Relaxing Getaway

Nigel's place is stunning and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. My wife, kids and I had a fabulous time relaxing by the pool, going for hikes, checking out the nearby towns, and we even rented bikes from the neighbours. Wish we had planned on staying longer. Nigel responded quickly to messages and made some great restaurant recommendations; Euloge in nearby Belhade was especially memorable. His place not too far from Bordeaux if you fancy going into the city as part of your stay but we didn't bother. Everything we needed was in Moustey and the other nearby towns. The local bakery has great bread and tarts and Nigel's lovely kitchen is perfect for making dinner.

Absolute Ruhe, tolle Ausstattung für eine größere Gruppe von Reisenden, geschmackvolle Ausstattung, toller, grosser Pool ... die Aufzählung lässt sich beliebig fortsetzen. Die Lage war ebenfalls perfekt - abgeschieden, aber Bordeaux und der Atlantik gut erreichbar. Nigel war sehr aufmerksam und hat auf Anfragen immer kurzfristig reagiert. L' Airial Beautiful Stunning Property

I stayed with some friends at L' Airial back in September 2016 for a week. It was amazing. Property is just simply beautiful, so much character and charm and has been kept in a good condition. It should be used in a movie it was so pretty. Swimming pool in garden so ideal for children and families staying here. 5 min drive to local village where there are 2 lovely restaurants and bakery and 10 min drive is a Carrefour Express to stock up on lovely French wines from the region. 2 min drive was a local farm where we were able to hire out kayaks for the day and take them out on the river it was so relaxing and peaceful. You could if you wished do horse riding from this farm as well. The beach was about 45 min drive. There was a table and chairs in the garden so every night sat outside enjoying the local wine and cheese and just listening to the peace and quiet of the French countryside. I have already booked in for summer 2017 to return with my family. It was just great for relaxation, reading and had a nice chilled out holiday. Tranquility at it's finest

I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful house in summer 2016. It is one of the most peaceful places I've ever stayed with the added bonus of lovely, friendly and helpful neighbours who are just far enough away for seclusion! The private and secluded swimming pool and surrounding grounds are ideal for sunbathing, relaxation, and walking. The house itself is impressive and spacious and I loved sitting by the traditional open fire in the evenings. It was well maintained, clean and had comfortable beds. If you can bear to leave the house and its grounds there are a number of activities on offer locally such as horse-riding or kayaking and the beaches are not too far away by car to be able to have a day by the beach. There are also local restaurants to try out. I would highly recommend a stay at L'Airial which I think would be suitable for families as well as groups of friends. Beautiful house with pool, hidden in the woods

Absolutely stunning house in the woods, with the lake, the sea, essential morning bakery, shops - all in close proximity. Total seclusion in a with a great sized pool for relaxation and fun. Host, Nigel, couldn't have made the house more comfortable. Everything you need for a perfect stay. It's a staycation away from home! The house itself has great sized rooms, 2 bathrooms. Space to be together and space to have alone time. Plenty to do in the surrounding area - from Europe's highest sandbank to great local restaurants and cafés. I can’t recommend this place enough

An amazing trip. Nigel was super-communicative and responsive throughout, and booking was easy – as was checking in. The house itself is enormous, with a huge garden and wonderful swimming pool. The beds were very comfortable, and we were able to cook some great meals in the kitchen which is very modern and well-equipped. There’s plenty to do in the area – we went kayaking and to the lakes one day, and to some beautiful vineyards another day. You need a car as it’s a secluded place, but Bordeaux is close by and we even managed to drive to the beach on our last day. And the restaurants in the area: wow! I’ve travelled a lot in my life, and tasted some of the best food I’ve ever tried during my stay there. Overall, I can’t recommend this place enough: particularly for holidays where you’re going with family and friends, and want to get away from it all. Finally, it’s super dog-friendly – my Scottish Terrier loved running around the grounds, and was exhausted by the end of the trip – which is a proper success!

It’s wonderfully secluded

Nigel’s house is amazing. It’s wonderfully secluded, a car is essential, but offers access to local villages, Bordeaux and beaches. You can choose how active you want to be with kayaking, riding and cycling close at hand or just chill in the gorgeous gardens and pool at the house. The house has been renovated so all amenities are available but retains it’s history and charm. It is an absolute paradise for dogs, my two Spaniels has the best time and it’s totally enclosed so they are completely safe. You may want to think twice about taking dogs kayaking tho, one of our more interesting experiences . Nigel is a fantastic host and is exceptionally responsive, check in and check out was straight forward and managed by neighbours who are on hand for any problems. Would thoroughly recommend.

Brilliant holiday - the perfect get-away

This property is truly beautiful in fact I don't think the pictures do it justice. Having always loved France we just wanted to get away from it all and enjoy the peaceful countryside and sunshine. Don't book this property, I want it all for myself!

As a self- confessed Francophile I was keen to explore unspoilt France with friends and family: Nigel's house proved the perfect venue. Secluded amongst the pines and mature deciduous trees, L'Arial is a rural haven, yet a very easy drive from Bordeaux. A nightingale sang outside my bedroom window all night and we heard numerous cuckoos in the daytime.Whilst for really keen birdwatchers there are the hides and marked routes of the 110 hectare bird sanctuary by the bay of Arcachon. Although the temptation is to relax in the extensive gardens or by the pool, forays further afield are rewarding and various. From exploring miles of sandy beaches; enjoying a generous choice of restaurants; discovering the glorious mediaeval churches along a main pilgrim route of Santiago de Compostela or choosing from a number of sporting activities, there really is something for everyone.So much so, I'm planning my next visit..... Beautiful place and a dog's paradise

I had the pleasure to stay at the house twice. The first time I stayed with friends at the end of April 2017 and the second time I stayed with family in the beginning of June 2017. I really love the house, not only is it located in the middle of the woods, it is beautifully build. It has a recently renovated practical and modern kitchen with all appliances you will need or could need. During my first stay the weather was still not very good and we were able to enjoy lovely evenings sitting around wood fires in the dining room. During my second stay it was warmer and we could spend the evening outside enjoying a glass of wine. On both occasions dogs came along. I think this must be the closest to dog heaven you can get: a fully fenced in garden to explore, you can take several walks outside the property and in walking distance you find streams they can swim in. And it is only a short drive to the beach or the dunes. Basically the house has everything you can ask for and with the swimming pool in the garden, you don’t really need to leave. In the village of Moustey you can find all you basic shopping and restaurants to eat. And it is only a short driver to Pissos, Biscarrosse, Arcachon and Bordeaux, if you do feel like leaving the house. The house is very secluded and peaceful, but you do have great and helpful neighbours close by. I really felt sad leaving and do hope to visit sometime in the near future.
